Why Use High Quality Cables?

Technical research and tremendous amounts of extensive listening by multitudes of companies, organizations, and individuals worldwide have proven that every component in an audio recording system has the potential to improve or degrade the sound quality of the recorded music. In playback systems, the same is true: any component in the audio system, if not designed and built to the highest standards, can improve or degrade the playback quality of the music.

This means that every part in an audio (or video) system makes a difference in what you hear. Cables carry the electrical signal from one piece of equipment to the next (such as from microphone to preamplifier, mixer output to amplifier, etc). Ideally, cables should not alter the sound of the music in the process.

However, the fact is that most do, especially in long lengths. Therefore, excellent quality cables are not really enhancing the sound of the music: they are carrying it as unchanged as possible to its destination. The result is that your recordings sound more true-to-life, transparent, wide, deep, smooth and accurate.

Here are some reasons why the ideal cable is hard to achieve

There is radio-frequency noise from hundreds of sources flying around the modern establishment at all times - from sources such as radio towers, AC power, WiFi hubs, cell phones, home phones, microwaves, CRT-type TV's, and many more. If any of this comes in contact with the signal, it will cause loss in sound quality. Another foe of the superb sound signal is errant electro-magnetic waves, also produced by many of the sources mentioned.
These problems are prevented by using shielding (surrounding the conductor(s) of a cable with an electrical ground, or earthing).

Then there is the issue of how the cable reacts to itself, such as the electrical resistance of the conductor metal, and how the conductors align electromagnetically with the shielding material, the dielectrics (insulation around conductors), and with each other.

All of these obstacles (and more) combine to form a formidable hindrance to the cable designer's goal of a perfectly transparent cable, and because of the high price of special materials (such as pure silver!!), and the large amount of research and detailed manufacturing needed to achieve these high goals, final cost becomes an issue. The cable designer must take into account the cost/quality ratios and determine which part of the market he will provide to, and how to maximize the quality of the cable in that cost bracket.

Our cables

Our mission is to satisfy the need for affordable high quality cables to the many studios, musicians, home producers, and others who are looking for the highest sound quality they can get, with a limited budget.
Through much research in cable technology and the related fields of audio recording and playback, we have refined our cable selections for the best price/performance.

We use Mogami cable for all of our cables intended for studio use, and Canare cable for all cables designed for live event use. Mogami is the most respected brand in professional audio cables. Used in virtually every major recording studio around the world, it has a reputation for superb performance and sound quality at a reasonable price point. Almost every recording you have ever listened to has either passed through Mogami cable in the signal chain, or has been recorded exclusively with Mogami.
For playback systems, Mogami could be a perfect choice, as it is the same cable that the recordings you're playing back used! It is used by a number of audiophiles and stereophiles as an excellent home interconnect.

Canare cable represents the best sound quality available in a high-durability, cost-effective cable. It is used extensively by much of the broadcast industry for reference-class audio and video. We use it for our high-durability assemblies, as it has a braided shield and more fillers than Mogami. We use the renowned Canare video wire for most of our video cables.

We are fully confident that you will be very pleased with our cables, and offer you a 30-day risk-free, money-back satisfaction guarantee. If our cables do not meet your standards for quality in this price range, you're welcome to return them to us within 30 days of your purchase.
