Copper values have gone up 300% on average since 2004. Camden copper was at a record low of $0.84 in first quarter 2002, giving a fantastic stock-up opportunity for cable manufacturers everywhere. but a steep increase 2006-2007 has led to a current market price of $3.23.
Mogami’s stock of high-grade copper at the old prices seems to have run out, and consequently many Mogami cables are up an average of $0.30, #2534 is almost $0.40 higher. We have had to raise the prices of our cables between $1.00 and $8.00, with longer lengths such as 50 feet up more than $11.00. Canare cable is up only a little bit, with GS-6 guitar cable up the most at an additional $0.20 / ft.
